Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Talent Hunt : Talents Keep Emerging

As preparations for the next edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing Talent hunt intensify, the Talent hunt Team has visited Nsukka and Nkanu East Local Government Areas.

The Team led by the Coordinator of the programme and Ex-International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo discovered not less than thirty raw and upcoming talent with each producing at least fifteen potential world beaters.

At Nkanu East, highlight of the exercise there was the discovery of Michael Ngene from Umuode Community who according to the Team lead, Mazi Okoronkwo showed exceptional talent in boxing and, with proper management and training as well as the potential to become a professional boxer who can make a mark on the world stage.

In Nsukka another set fifteen able-bodied students successfully passed through the rigours of selection.

They include: Omeje Ebube from Amaokwe Nsukka, Adukwu Cynthia from Nru Nsukka, Ugwu Joshua from Ibagwa Agagu, Ujam Samson from Ameji Okanu and Ifebuche Abugu from Enugu-Ezike.

Others are: Cosmas Favour from Iheakpu Obollo, Edoziogo Chidubem from Iga, Matthew Joel from Enugu-Ezike, Asogwa Stanley from Edem Nru Nsukka and Amani Victor from Uzo-Uwani

The rest are: Ugwuueze God’s Storage from Iheakpu , Ozioko Alachukwu from Obuchera Nsukka, Asadu Chidubem from Umuocha Echerachukwu, Asogwa Tochukwu from Nkpurikwere Nsukka and Asadu Uchechukwu from Erema Nru Nsukka.

Speaking with Hanto Daily News, Ex-International Boxer and Coordinator of the Grassroots Talent Exercise tournament, Mazi Okoronkwo expressed gratitude to Local government Chairmen for supporting the initiative of the speaker of the Enugu State house of Assembly.

He expressed confidence that the tournament will produce talents that will take the boxing world by storm and assured that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure its success.

Registration for the talent hunt which is ongoing across other communities in 17 LGA of Enugu State, will conclude on 15th May 2026
