Former Vice President and a leading voice of the opposition in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the road accident involving former two time heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua in Makun, Ogun State this Monday morning (29/12/25).

Atiku while reacting on X, Atiku expressed solidarity with the boxer whom he described as a symbol of strength and resilience and prayed for his swift and complete recovery.
He however sent his condolences to the families of those that lost their in the unfortunate accident.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State.
“I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery.
“Anthony remains a symbol of strength and resilience, and I have no doubt he will come through this with grace.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow.”
Recall, World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident on Monday in Makun, Ogun State along the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway at about 11am when the Lexus jeep carrying him with the number plate, KRD 850 HN, reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are still being investigated.

Two people were said to have died on the spot while one escaped unhurt , whereas Anthony Joshua and another passenger were reported to have sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, who later confirmed the incident said Joshua and one other occupant have been hospitalised and are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
