We are working to secure Kanu’s release – Otti

“You can take it for granted that as Nnamdi Kanu’s Governor, I’m in the forefront of ensuring that he comes back home.”

This reassuring statement came courtesy of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, while responding to questions during the September edition of his Monthly Media Parley, tagged: “Governor Otti Speaks,” that held at the Government House, Umuahia.

The Governor while making it clear that he is not relenting in securing the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, pointed out that he was doing this in collaboration with other Governors of the South East region.

On revealing to the public what steps have taken, Governor Otti pleaded that the details of the discussions would not be made public in order not to put the process in danger.

He however emphasized: “We have been engaging on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but the level at which we are engaging, the discussions that have happened and the assurances that have been received are not for public consumption, since it may derail the process.

“All the South East Governors are in tandem. So we are discussing it.”

Recall, a few days ago, a body know Igbo Elders forum took to the streets of Umuahia before landing at the government house, demanding the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is said to be having a serious health challenge that requires attention abroad.
