As President Trump’s statement on alleged Genocide against Nigerian Christians in the North continue to attract comments, former Governor of Abia State and Senator for Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, says there is no denying the fact that thousands of Nigerians have lost their lives to violent attacks by terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers.
Addressing Newsmen at the National Assembly, Senator Kalu made it clear that the United States President Donald Trump spoke the truth in his recent utterance about genocidal attacks on Nigerians by terrorists.
While pointing out that the casualties were both Christians and Muslims, the former Governor noted that what was needed urgently was for the federal government to take decisive security actions that will halt the killings.
“Donald Trump spoke the truth; Nigerians are being killed. Whether they are Christians or Muslims, they are Nigerians,” the Senator stated.
He observed that when such attacks occur in states such as Zamfara, Katsina, and Jigawa, where Muslims dominate the population, most victims are Muslims while in states like Benue and Plateau, which are predominantly Christian, most victims are Christians.
He however warned, “Before Donald Trump spoke, the American intelligence community must have found out where these people are residing.”
Senator Kalu therefore charged the Federal Government and the Nigerian military to sustain ongoing operations against insurgency and banditry across the country.
