As distinguished Nigerians and the people continue to mourn the death of the founder Gregory University , Uturu, Prof Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe , the Senior Special Assistant to Abia Governor on Due process, Dr Oluebube Chukwu has described the demise of the late Entrepreneur as a big shock.
Dr Chukwu, in a tribute note that Prof Ibe was more than a friend whose presence brought positivity, stressing that he would forever cherish their shared moments .
While pointing out that the demise of Prof Ibe has left a void that words alone cannot fill, the SSA made it clear that the deceased was a man who invested in people, believed in possibilities and dedicated much of his life to education, entrepreneurship and the development of others.
Dr Chukwu Wrote:
There are moments when words fail, and the heart is left to express what the mouth cannot adequately say. Today is one of such moments for me.
Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe was more than a friend. He was a man whose presence meant something to me, a man with whom I shared moments I will forever cherish. His passing has left a void that words alone cannot fill.
When I wrote, “A time was had. I quietly prayed you waited to see me grow,” I was speaking from a place of deep emotion. There were hopes, dreams and moments I wished we could share in the years ahead. I wished you could stay a little longer, witness more of life’s unfolding chapters and see how far the journey would take us.
But life, in its mystery, sometimes takes away those we wish could remain with us a little longer.
Professor Ibe was a man who invested in people, believed in possibilities and dedicated much of his life to education, entrepreneurship and the development of others. Through Gregory University, Uturu, and his other ventures, he created opportunities that touched many lives and gave countless people reasons to hope for a better future.
Beyond his public achievements, I will remember the friendship, the memories and the moments that made our relationship meaningful.
It is painful to say goodbye to someone you had hoped would be around to witness more of your journey. Yet, even in grief, I find comfort in the knowledge that a life devoted to creating opportunities and impacting others does not end with death. Its influence continues through the people touched and the dreams inspired.
Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, your departure hurts deeply. I wish you had stayed longer. I wish we had more time.
But as I say goodbye, I am grateful for the time we had, the memories we shared and the privilege of having known you.
Rest well, my friend. Rest well, Enyi Abia.
