The Senior Special Assistant to Abia Governor on Due Process, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu was among numerous dignitaries and well-wishers that thronged to the Ochi Royal Palace Umuelem Isuochi on Thursday, March 27th, 2025 to pay condolences to the people of Isuochi Ancient kingdom following the passing on of their revered Traditional Ruler, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) G. I. Ezekwesiri.
Speaking during the solemn visit, Dr. Chukwu expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the Eze Dr Ezekwesiri, who he noted made significant contributions to the peace, unity, and the preservation of the Isuochi rich cultural heritage.
He described the reign of Eze Ezekwesiri as one that would serve as a guiding light for the current Royal Fathers and the people, lamenting that his absence would be profoundly felt.
“The late king’s legacy of dignity, wisdom, and progressive leadership will forever be remembered.
“His impact extended beyond Isuochi, fostering unity and development across the region,” Dr Chukwu observed.
The Senior special Assistant expressed his condolences to the Royal Family, the Eze- in-Council, and the people of Isuochi,on the irreparable loss, praying for divine strength and comfort as they mourn the loss of this esteemed leader.
The gathering at the palace saw the presence of several prominent figures, including government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders, all paying their respects to the late monarch. Many shared personal stories of his kindness and visionary leadership, and the deep void his passing has left.
Mourners including Government officials, Traditional Rulers, Community and Youth Leaders who spoke with Hanto Daily News described Eze (Dr.) G. I. Ezekwesiri as a father to all, a man of great wisdom who upheld the traditions of Isuochi while advocating for progress and development.
They pointed out that his ability to balance tradition with modern governance earned him widespread admiration as well as helped in fostering peace and stability in the community.
According to them, Isuochi witnessed remarkable growth in infrastructure, cultural preservation, and social cohesion under his Kingship.
The family led by the First Son of the deceased and former member Abia House of Assembly, Prince Ikedi Ezekwesiri, members of the Ochi-in-council and Town Union Leaders were on hand to receive Guests.
Recall, a three week mourning period was declared to honour the demise of His Majesty, Eze Dr G.I. Ezekwesiri who passed on peacefully at the age of 88 years, after ruling for over half a decade.
