Okowa’s endorsement of Tinubu justifies my support for the President – Wike

The outspoken Minister of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu by former Governor of Delta State Senator Ifeanyi Okowa validates his own support for the president during the 2023 elections.

The Minister in a statement endorsed by his spokesperson, Lere Okayinka, described the decision that also coincided with the decamping of the incumbent Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori to All Progressives Congress, APC, as another endorsement of President Tinubu’s good governance and commitment to the development of the country.

He dedcribed the timing of Okowa and Oborevwori’s endorsement as beneficial for the Niger Delta region and commended the PDP vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 elections for dumping the Party for APC.

“I commend Dr. Okowa and Governor Oborevwori for this heartwarming decision, which must have been informed by good governance and the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to the oneness and development of Nigeria.

“They have come out at the right time to show support for the president so that the people of Niger Delta can benefit more from the government, and I commend them,” Wike pointed out.

Recall, Sheriff Oborevwori, the incumbent governor of Delta, on Wednesday decamped from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his Predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa who was Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 Presidential election on the platform of PDP is now set to join the ruling APC.

Wike’s current fight against Atiku and the PDP could be traced to the choice of Okowa as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the former ruling party in 2023.
