In what appears to be saying the truth and damning the consequences, a former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has asserted that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, won the presidential election in Rivers State which was officially declared in favour APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu.
The former Rivers Governor who was speaking on Saturday during an X Space discussion, however pointed out that he did not know how the result was changed before the official declaration by INEC.
“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State, but I don’t know how the results were changed,” the outspoken politician stated.
Amaechi further made public that he and former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, initiated talks that led to the formation of the opposition coalition seems today to be a major challenge to the ruling party for the 2027 elections.
He pointed out that what began as a private conversation between the two was later expanded to include prominent political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Secretaries to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal and Boss Mustapha, former Senate President David Mark, ex-Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, among others.
The admission of Labour Party’s victory in the Presidential pollin the oil-rich-South-South State is seen by analysts as a veiled attack on his Arc political rival and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
