The Council of Umunneochi President Generals comprising the leaders of the three clans in the Council area: Umuchieze, Nneato and Isuochi, says it is aware of what the body described as the distractive and unacceptable actions by their elected Councillors since early this year.
In a letter endorsed by the Secretary of the Association, Engineer Chief Ochiabuto Orji and addressed to the Leader Umunneochi Legislative Council, the body noted with concern that these actions including that of 17th July 2025, have projected the Umunneochi LGA as a home of lawless legislators.

While pointing out that their actions are derailing our hard earned democracy, the Council of Umunneochi President Generals recalled that their actions which had gone viral attracted the intervention of the Executive Governor and some Stakeholders who pleaded to the legislators to sheath their swords.
The body pointedly made it clear that the Councillors’ refusal to allow peace to reign and support the Mayor to function efficiently, is tasking the sensibilities of the people that elected them and the entire citizens of Umunneochi LGA.
The Council of President Generals therefore advised them to maintain peace and order in the Local Government and build the confidence of the people of Umunneochi.
The Clan Leaders however restated their unalloyed support and confidence in the administration of the Mayor, Mr. Sunday Afurobi and all of the elected councilors.
“We totally advise that you join hands with the Mayor Sunday Afurobi to bring desired dividends of democracy to the Local Government and Communities.
“We however wish to state that if peace is NOT restored in the Local Government Area within a reasonable time, we shall take actions to put things in their proper perspectives. Once elected, the era of dirty politics should disappear for good governance. We wish you all the best and pray you actively serve Umunneochi people, ” the statement concluded.
