The Canaanland Counselling Centre, Worldwide A.K.A E-Dey-Work on Tuesday (1/4/25) took another humanitarian step in its efforts aimed at caring for the sick, the oppressed as well as consoling the poor as the Ministry began an ingenious manner of evangelism through visiting those that belong to this class.
The Spiritual Director of the Centre, Rev Fr Dr Magnus Ebere, SDV who is the brain behind this heart-touching initiative led a four – man -team to Umuine Egbelu Umuchie, Ezeagbogu in Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria to visit a retired Classroom Teacher, Mrs Agatha Chinasa Amaefule, who has been seriously down with ailments and living in abject poverty.
The visit which was unannounced took the dejected woman by surprise and she exclaimed joyfully on sighting Rev Fr Dr Ebere popularly known as Father E-Dey-Work, who was clad in his white sutan
This unexpected visit compelled the woman who finds it difficult to walk unaided to rise and embraced the Man of God while praising the Almighty for this memorable moment.
The Prophet of God personally started unloading the content of the vehicle which saw him bring out newly constructed bed , foam, pillows and moved straight to cleaning the sick woman’s bedroom which was in sorry situation.
After fixing and decorating the bed, Fr E-Dey-Work also handed over a bag of rice and cash to the woman who has only a child that is just living from hand to mouth and announced that he will send a carpenter to replace the dilapidated ceiling in her room.
Speaking with Hanto Daily news, Rev Fr Dr ebere, described the gesture as a grassroots movement designed to assist the sick, the poor and the needy in the rural communities.
The outspoken Catholic Priest who pointed out that his ministry had in the past been involved in evangelism in the urban areas, noted that the current economic situation in the country demands philanthropy from the church and the people.
On the sustainability of the project, he expressed confidence that God who chose him for this charity will not abandon him, vowing to remain this mandate even if he is the only man standing.
” It’s going to be an unstoppable move. I have a joyful mandate to make people laugh and be joyful”, the priest noted.
Mrs Agatha Amaefule whose Joy knew no bounds thanked Fr E-Dey-Work for showing this unprecedented love in humility and expressed confidence that the visit will positively turnaround her life and family.
“Who will believe that this ‘Battle axe of the Lord’ will visit me to sweep my room and give me these presents. How wonderful is this God of E-Dey-Work”
In this mood she Continually kept exclaiming in her dialect (Chileke ocha eeeee) which is her personal way of recognizing the beauty and mightiness of God .
Reacting the husband to the sick woman , Mr Chinedu Amaefule who wasn’t at home when the priest arrived, pointed out that the visit has really shown the humility and kindness embedded in Fr Ebere and prayed God to sustain and increase his ministry.
The visit which attracted the neighbourhood who rushed to the compound following shouts of joy from the sick woman featured concentrated prayers for the healing of the woman and the liberation of the family from all forms of hindrances.
