The Abia State Capital city of Umuahia stood still for the Governor, Dr Alex Otti and the Labour party, LP, as the 2027 campaign of the party was flagged off at the Umuahia Township stadium.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters at the event that featured the presentation of flags to LP candidates for Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly, Governor Alex Otti expressed confidence that with his achievements so far, he would secure a resounding second term victory.
Governor Otti pointed out that his re-election would enable him to consolidate on the good works he commenced in 2023 and appreciated the Abia people for their support to him.
The Governor who expressed joy that Abia now ranks top in the citizens satisfaction index according to reports from credible research organizations, however charged the stakeholders of the Labour Party to deliver all candidates of the Labour Party in their localities
As a way of exhibiting belief in democratic ideals, he directed the relevant authorities to ensure that public facilities in the State are not closed against the candidates and members of the opposition parties as was the case in the past .
” I have since given an order and am repeating it here that opposition parties should not be restricted from using public facilities, including this stadium.
Governor Otti congratulated his opponents in the 2027 race, stressing that the beauty of democracy is the ability of the Abia people to have available options.
In his remarks, the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, pointed out that the next House of Assembly must be dominated by the LP, to provide the Governor comfortable political grounds to continue with his good works.
The National Chairman of the LP, Senator Nenadi Usman, represented by the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Salisu Nuhu Mohammed, made it clear that the achievements of Governor Otti will help the party to secure an all round victory.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Labour in Abia State, Hon. Peter Azubuike boasted that LP has no opposition in 2027, stressing that his achievements in all parts of Abia makes the Governor and other LP candidates the choice of the people.
