Abia Govt approves donation of land for POWA project.

Abia State Government is to provide land for the establishment of a skills acquisition centre for the empowerment of Police Officers’ wives and their children.

Governor Alex Otti announced this when he received in his Nvosi Country home, the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA), Dr Mrs.Elizabeth Egbetokun and her Team who are on a working visit to the state.

Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s desire to keep supporting empowerment that has direct bearing on the lives of the people and promised to support the project in terms of providing manpower if the need arises.

The Governor commended the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun and his men for their support which has led to relative peace being enjoyed in various parts of the state.

While acknowledging that his administration enjoys a cordial working relationship with the Nigerian Police, he pledged to work with the Nigerian Police and other Security Agencies in achieving a more secured and peaceful state.

In her speech, the wife of the Inspector General of Police and President Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA), Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun appreciated the remarkable progress made by Governor Alex Otti in road infrastructure and the well-being of the citizens.

Mrs. Egbetokun disclosed that POWA is dedicated to empowering women and children, especially families of fallen police officers, by equipping them with skills that provide lifelong income opportunities and appealed to Governor Otti for assistance in acquiring land for a skill acquisition centre that would provide essential training for Women and Children of fallen heroes.

Hanto Daily News reports that the wife of the Governor Mrs Priscilla Otti was among other government functionaries present during the visit while the AIG Zone -9 Mr Suleiman Yusuf, the state Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa among other top Police Officers accompanied the IGP’s wife.
