Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the 2027 Senatorial race on the platform of African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The development which is seen as a surprise by many analysts and followers of the former House of Representatives speaker, according to sources, came as a result of Tambuwal’s decision to ensure unity in the party where he is regarded as the leader in Sokoto State.
In his place, a Commissioner former Finance, Faruk Malami-Yabo was nominated to fly the flag of the new coalition party which is expected to make reasonable marks in the 2027 polls.
Confirming the report in on Friday, the Sokoto State Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Lamir Aminu, said Tambuwal sacrificed his ambition in the interest of peace and stability within the party.
According to him, “Senator Tambuwal decided to relinquish the ticket to promote harmony and strengthen internal democracy in the party.
“The ADC leadership in Sokoto is committed to giving younger politicians the opportunity to contest positions.
“The move by our leader is a reflection of our party’s ideology of grooming young and vibrant leaders.”
The ADC Publicity Secretary further revealed that most of the party’s House of Representatives tickets in the state were also given to younger candidates.
