More boxing talents have been discovered during visitations and training for talent hunt across the 17 LGAs as the team visited Uzo Uwani Local Government Area before rounding off at Ezeagu Local Government Area where a large crowd of youths turned out seeking empowerment through boxing.
Mazi Comr. Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, Coordinator of the programme said it is in preparation for the next edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing Talent Hunt Exercise.
Registration of boxers for the state final of the Speaker Boxing Event is expected to be concluded on Friday, 15th May, 2026.
The Coordinator names the 20 boxers selected in Ezeagu to include:
Ukere Chinedu, Onuorah Afoluchukwu, Chukwudi Heany, Okolo Arinze Owerioh, Victor Anike, Iwollo and Nnadi Ebube Anike
Others are Ifedora Chukwunsa, Mmadu Alachukwu, Chukwuma Oguloguru, Anyaora Chukezia, Solomon Goodluck, Ifeme Chykanso
Oghe and Obiesie Chisom.
The rest are: Amalu Chidera, Igboanude Mmadu, Ozor Chibuike, Uzaechi Onyebuchi, Emmanuel.Imana,
Ozoagu Emmanuel and Ozor Faith
The ten boxers selected in Uzo Uwani are Ameh Michael, George Benjamin, Ogbonna Stephen, Eze Vincent and Ike John
Others include: Izugu Bright, Eke Fila, Aloe Thomas, Chukwueze Jempfer and Engene James .
Speaking after the exercise, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo applauded the efforts of the Enugu State Government led by Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for bringing schools and opportunities to rural communities like Nimbo in Uzo Uwani LGA.
He described the gesture as the way forward to migrate into the digital world of science, technology, and sports development.
Baring their minds, the Games Masters of the schools visited thanked Governor Peter Mbah, the speaker of the Enugu State house of Assembly as well as the coordinator of the programme for providing youths the opportunity.
