The electoral fortunes of Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, received a big boost as a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd.), declared his support for the Duo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ihejirika who made the declaration while receiving the Labour Party candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, at his residence in Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, made it clear that he would support anyone backing the governor.
He commended Chief Onuoha for offering himself for public service, describing his decision to seek election to the Senate as a sacrifice to Abia North.
According to Ihejirika, the Labour Party Candidate’s decision to enter the political arena should be viewed as a commitment to serving the people.
He made it clear that Governor Otti’s campaign and his team would be aided by a number completed projects and infrastructure and questioned critics of the governor’s administration, who are using roads constructed or rehabilitated under the administration.
The retired general who also recalled the commissioning of the Omenuko Bridge as one of the highlights of his recent 70th birthday activities noted that the newly constructed Omenuko Bridge and the 30-kilometre Ozu Abam–Ndi Okereke–Okobo–Amuvi–Arochukwu Road are there as testimonies.
Gen Ihejirika therefore prayed for the success of the Labour party senatorial candidate in the 2027 general elections.
