All is now set in Enugu, (coal city,) the capital of Enugu State, South East Nigeria for the double boxing events slated to hold on Wednesday 22 October, 2025.
The two events include the finals of the 8th edition of the speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing tournament and a professional boxing championship tagged ‘the Rumble in Enugwu.’
The Rumble in Enugwu Boxing Championship, which according to the Ex-International Boxer and brain behind the event, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, drew inspiration from the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, held in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo) on October 30, 1974 will feature talented young boxers from Enugu State discovered through the grassroots boxing talent hunt and other professional boxers
Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo expressed excitement at the prospects of the forthcoming boxing championship.
The championship featuring boxers in different categories is sponsored by IKEUJ Boxing promotion, sanctioned by the presidency , Nigerian boxing board of control NBB of C.
The event that will hold at the parliamentary hall PPSMB Enugu features in the Lightweight – Chinaza Ikechukwu Okoronkwo (The Emperor) vs Oche Adegene; Featherweight – Zee Chibuike Okoronkwo (The King Priest) vs Kumazi Daniel J and Super Featherweight – Israel Obinna Ogbodo ( Izzy Money) vs Okeke Tochukwu.
According to Mazi Okoronkwo the Enugu State finals of the 8th edition of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing Talent Hunt Exercise from the 17 LGAs will also hold at the same venue and day with the Bantamweight featuring Jude Ugwuanyi vs John Wisdom and Middleweight that will see Shedrack Ozoemena ( De Bull Nwa Nike) lock horns with Chinedu Marvellous (Steel Bender).
The Boxing Promoter further made public that other emerging boxing talents discovered in all the council areas will also entertain the audience in the fiesta that kicks off at 10 AM.
