Sun Newspapers Man, Inya, emerges Chairman Ebonyi Correspondents Chapel

The Sun Newspapers Correspondent for Ebonyi State, Comrade Uchenna Inya has been elected the new Chairman of the
Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council.

Comrade Inya, who was obviously the People’s choice polled a total of 27 votes to defeat his opponent, Moses Nwite of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) who scored only 5 votes.

The peaceful election organized by the Amechi Odoh electoral committee under the supervision of the Ebonyi Council of NUJ also saw the election of Christian Ogbonna of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as the Secretary.

Addressing his colleagues, the state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Samson Nwafor hailed the peaceful conduct of the election and called on winners of the election especially the new chapel Chairman to see his victory as a call for more service.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the credentials committee Amarachi Odo who lauded commended members for conducting themselves orderly and for turning out en mass to vote for the candidate of their choices, called for unity amongst all.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Inya who thanked his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him enjoined them to continue to give support and applauded the State Government for providing a conducive atmosphere for the poll and operations of the Media in the State.

Hanto Daily News reports that 32 out of the 34 members of the chapel, participated in the election.
