Stakehokders hail Hon Onuigbo, Vice Chancellor over restoration of Management courses in MOUAU.

Stakeholders and interest Groups have welcomed the recent approval granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the commencement of Management Science programs at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) from the 2024/2025 academic session.

In a release, a Professor of Accountancy, MOUAU John U. Ihendinihu, noted that the approval marks a historic milestone in the University’s pursuit of academic excellence and capacity building in critical fields such as Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Management, and Marketing.

Prof Ihendinihu while appreciating the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, whose relentless efforts, strategic engagement, and unwavering commitment helped in realizing the dream particularly commended a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Sam Onuigbo, for his invaluable and distinctive contributions in achieving this target.

He pointed out Chief Onuigbo’s dedicated support and his politically spirited navigation of the terrain were strongly instrumental to the attainment of this milestone.

The Professor of Accountancy noted the efforts of Chief Onuigbo and the Management team of the University have created a legacy that will shape the future of business education at MOUAU for generations to come.

He, therefore, encouraged all prospective students, parents/guardians, and the interested publics, to seize this golden opportunity and enroll into the newly approved B.Sc. Programmes , stressing that they are designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial insights that will prepare them for leadership roles in today’s competitive business world.

In his reaction, the facilitator of the good governance movement, For Us By Us, FUBU, Ugwumba Chika Ishionwu described the restoration of Management Science courses at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU as a landmark development that strengthens the university’s mission to deliver academic excellence and expand opportunities for further advanced studies by its graduates.

Ugwumba Ishionwu however thanked the South East Representative on North East Development Commission Board, Chief Sam Onuigbo for making the dreams come true.

In his words: “This milestone development would not have been realized without the exceptional contributions of Rep Sir Sam Onuigbo, KJW, Odozi Obodo Gburugburu, whose unwavering support, strategic advocacy, and politically astute efforts have been instrumental in navigating challenges to bring this vision to life.

“As a silent achiever, his dedication has once again proven invaluable, and we remain profoundly grateful for his consistent commitment to the advancement of quality education and the betterment of our community.”

The FUBU boss recalled that Rep Onuigbo, during his tenure at the House of Representatives was the lone voice strongly opposed to the removal of Management Science courses from MOUAU, a position canvassed by then Minister of Agriculture, Mr Audu Ogbeh.

While recognizing the philanthropic and patriotic dispositions of the former National Assembly Member, Ugwumba Ishionwu noted his untiring efforts in promoting quality education for all has been his lifelong mission recalling that even as a private citizen, the former lawmaker attracted a secondary school, the Ambassador College to his community while he was employed at the American Embassy, Lagos

The good governance advocate also appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe for visionary leadership that laid the foundation for this success.
