PROFESSOR GREGORY IBE: MY BROTHER AND A FRIEND I WILL NEVER FORGET

The news of the death of my dear brother and friend, Professor Gregory Ibe, founder, Gregory University, Uturu, came to me as a rude shock.

I fondly remember his kindness and generosity, from ensuring that my favourite meal was prepared whenever I visited his office in Victoria Island, Lagos, to supporting my governorship ambition by hosting PDP leaders from Abia North and donating tons of customised exercise books for my 2011 campaign under APGA.

Our relationship transcended politics. He later appointed me and others, including General Ihejirika, to the Board of St Gregory University. I also cherish the memories of his visits with his wife to my country home in Ntigha, back-to-back, during his 2023 governorship campaign.

“My brother”, as we fondly called ourselves, was a man who valued friendship, invested in people, and left an enduring legacy through education and service.

I followed his struggles with health in the United States where he passed last week.

To his family, children, and the entire Gregory University community, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May God grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

Farewell, my dear brother and friend.

You were a friend indeed, a builder of people, and a man whose legacy will endure.

May your resilient soul rest in perfect peace.
