As the collection of the Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, gets underway, eligible voters in Abia, particularly those residing in Abia North Senatorial Zone have been challenged to ensure the collection of their PVCs.
Speaking with Newsmen on the exercise, the Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Due Process, Dr Oluebube A. Chukwu, called on eligible voters yet to possess their cards to take advantage of the ongoing collection exercise to prepare for the forthcoming elections.
He reminded them that the PVC is essential for eligible citizens to exercise their voting rights and participate in choosing leaders at various levels of government.
The Due Process Boss particularly enjoined residents of Abia North to take the exercise seriously, pointing out that voter participation was vital for determining the political direction of their communities and the state.
Dr Chukwu used the opportunity to appeal to eligible voters across the state to support candidates of the Labour Party in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, collecting their cards ahead of the elections would help voters avoid last-minute difficulties and ensure they are ready when the polls are conducted.
According to the time table, PVC collection exercise moves to its Local Government Area offices from October 16, following the ward-level collection phase, which ran from October 9 to October 15. The published schedule lists collection hours as 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
