OACF Mobilizes Hundreds Of Volunteers For February Sanitation Exercise in Abia North

In its determination to assist Abia State government in maintaining a clean environment, the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) mobilized hundreds of residents across the five local government areas of Abia North Senatorial Zone to participate actively in the February 2026 monthly sanitation exercise.

Speaking during the exercise, the Founder, Dr Oluebube A. Chukwu, noted that the massive turnout by volunteers across the five LGAs reflects growing community support for the initiative and underscores its commitment to fostering cleaner and healthier communities across Abia State.

Dr Chukwu reaffirmed the Foundation’s resolve to continue promoting environmental sustainability, public health, and community development through its monthly clean-up initiative.

Dr. Chukwu, who was represented by the Programme Manager, Miss Helen Mannic, noted that the exercise was held simultaneously in Isuikwuato, Umunneochi, Ohafia, Arochukwu, and Bende LGAs as part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to instill a culture of cleanliness at the grassroots.

In Isuikwuato LGA, the sanitation exercise was conducted at Ngeloyiri Junction in Ovim, Ezere/Imenyi Ward 2, where 42 volunteers, led by the OACF LGA Manager, Mr. Anyachi Ndubuisi, cleared refuse and cleaned the surroundings.

Baring their minds, Residents and Traders in the area commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

They aporeciated Dr. Chukwu for sponsoring the programme and reviving environmental consciousness within the community.

At Afor Market Square, Akawa, Nneato, in Umunneochi LGA, where 58 participants took part in the clean-up under the supervision of the LGA Manager, Mr. Uwey Onyemaechi, the team focused on waste evacuation and proper disposal to ensure a healthier market environment.

Similarly, 56 volunteers participated in the exercise in Ebem Ohafia Ward, Ohafia LGA, where 56 volunteers participated, under the supervision of the Ward Coordinator, Mr. Chukwuma Uguru, the participants cleaned up the Eziukwu and Ekeluogo toilet facilities and adjoining public spaces.

Also in Arochukwu LGA, that attracted 27 volunteers, the sanitation drive took place at Amakofia Ututu Ward under the coordination of Mr. Joseph Amah.

On their own, 37 volunteers cleaned Agbozu in Uzuakoli Ward, Bende LGA under the supervision of the LGA Manager, Mr. Godswill Evans.

Speaking with Hanto Daily News at different locations, the volunteers called on Abians to join the foundation in the effort to improve on the environmental cleanliness of our communities.

They lauded the Founder, Dr Oluebube Chukwu for supporting and encouraging the exercise and enjoined him not to relent.
