Following the rising cases of insecurity and the resultant heartless killing of innocent citizens in the country’s North Central Geo-political zone in particular and Nigeria in general, former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.) has challenged Nigerians to defend themselves from the menace of insecurity.
Speaking on Saturday during a public event in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Gen Danjuma made it clear that the people must act fast in the rising menace.
He made it clear that the advice he gave years back is as valid today as it was when he made it, noting that the government alone cannot win the fight against insecurity.
“Our people must be prepared to defend themselves. Every warning is as valid today as it was when I made it,” the retired General warned.
Recall over one hundred and fifty people have been brutally murdered in Plateau and Benue states by suspected jihadists allegedly bent on eradicating the indigenous citizens of these areas.
General Danjuma (retd) had a few years ago alerted Nigerians of a calculated effort by a particular sect and tribe to exterminate others in their expansionist move, revealing that they are being provided with sophisticated weapons and State protection.
