Abia Govt solicits partnership with Vietnam

The Abia State Government has called on the Vietnamese Government to assist in bringing back to life some Moribund industries in the state especially the Aba Textiles Mills

Speaking while receiving the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Mr Bui Quoc Hung and his team who called on him, the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti pointed out that there are many areas the social Republic of Vietnam could partner with the state.

Governor Otti noted that his administration is interested in partnering the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in various areas of economy including trade,commerce and Agriculture.

He therefore directed the Commissioner for Industries to conduct the Vietnamese Ambassador and his team around the state to enable them see more areas of possible partnership.

While thanking the Vietnamese Ambassador for his interest in investing in Abia State, Governor Otti expressed confidence that such partnership will result in the rescucitation of various ailing industries in the state.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Bui Quoc Hung highlighted the vast economic opportunities in the state, including agriculture, textiles, crude, oil and gas and expressed interest in strengthening trade relations with the State in these areas.

Mr Hung stressed the commitment of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to fostering a strong bilateral relationship with the State to enhance import and export activities and create mutual benefits for Nigeria and his country.

He said he would use the few days he would be in Abia to visit certain sites in Umuahia and Aba as well as hold meetings with Aba and Umuahia chambers of commerce.

Mr. Hung commended Dr Otti’s leadership qualities which have placed Abia on the global map, pointing out that Abia is the only state he has visited apart from Lagos.
