In a decisive way of showing non tolerance to indiscipline among party members, the Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, the House of Representatives member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, citing anti-party.
Announcing the decision this Saturday (6/9/25) while briefing the press, the Kano State Chairman of the party, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, pointed out that Jibrin’s repeated public criticisms of the NNPP and its leadership compelled the party to sanction him.

While stressing that Jibrin had made several anti-party remarks, Dungurawa revealed that a reconciliation committee was set up after Jibrin’s controversial interview on Channels Television, adding that he worsened matters with fresh statements that contradicted party positions.
The suspension comes barely a day after Jibrin hinted he might leave the party, stating that he was politically mature enough to decide his own future.
However, Dungurawa dismissed those remarks, describing the lawmaker as a “weak politician” whose electoral fortunes depended on the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform.
“If he was truly strong politically, he would have won under the APC, but he failed. It was when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he returned to the House of Representatives. Now he is deceiving himself, thinking he is strong,” the chairman said.
Stressing the gravity of Jibrins’s offence, he stated, “Instead of dialogue, he went further to undermine our interests, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add.”
The NNPP chairman further accused Jibrin of defaulting on mandatory membership dues, revealing that the party would initiate legal proceedings to recover what it is owed.
