House of Reps to inaugurate committee on Rivers oversight Tuesday

The nineteen- member House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight chaired by Rt. Hon. Prof. Julius Ihonvbere will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 15/4/25.

A release endorsed by the spokesman of the Green Chamber , Rep Akin Rotimi Jr names Rt. Hon. Ali Isa J.C. as Deputy Chairman while Prof Jake Dan-Azumi is the Head of the Secretariat.

Members include:Hon. Isiaka Ibrahim, Hon. Idris Ahmed Wase, Aliyu Muktar Betara, Sada Soli, James Abiodun Faleke Igariwey Iduma Enwo and Shehu Saleh Rijau.

Others are: Rep. Wole Oke, Akarachi Etinosa Amadi, Patrick Umoh, James Barka and Alex Egbona.

The rest include Isa Anka, Amos Daniel, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, Onuh Onyeche Blessing and Fatima Talba.

According to the release , the decision follows the resolution of the National Assembly approving the Proclamation, with amendments, by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, declaring a State of Emergency in Rivers State, adding that it is in furtherance of its constitutional mandate and commitment to transparent governance.

The release further made it clear that this development underscores the resolve of the House of Representatives to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and ensure that the extraordinary measures undertaken during the emergency period remain subject to legislative oversight, guided by transparency, accountability, and the best interest of the good people of Rivers State.
