The political crisis in Rivers is turning a show of population strength as a coalition of women groups this Monday morning stormed the streets of Port Harcourt to show solidarity the emergency rule in the Oil-rich South- South State.
Reports say the women who were dressed in white marched from the Garrison Flyover to the Isaac Boro Cark and were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as “State of Emergency is Constitutional”, “We Don’t Want Fubara,” among others.
Led by a former Commissioner for Social Welfare in Rivers, Ifeyinwa Aguma, an ally of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, the protesters who stormed the streets in reaction to another protest by supporters of Governor Fubara expressed their support for the Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ette Ibas.
The Pro- Wike women while praising Ibas for the steps taken so far, urged him to continue his good work in the state and solicited the probe of inflated contracts awarded by Fubara while he ruled the State.
President Bola Tinubu had recently appointed Ibas as the administrator of the state following what he termed disturbing political crisis threatening the peace and development of the State and Country.
