Hope Rising For APC, Amaechi Visits Atiku

The move by a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to ascend the Presidency received a boost on Monday as a former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi visited the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Abuja.

The visit is strategic and reassuring to the ADC family as discussions regarding the choice of a vice-presidential running mate intensify.

The closed-door meeting follows the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary election in April, where Atiku emerged victorious after defeating both Amaechi and former economic adviser Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to secure the ticket for the 2027 presidential race.

According to sources, consultations have shifted toward selecting a good running mate to consolidate the party’s national appeal, since the conclusion of the primaries.

While Atiku may have learnt lessons from the Nyesom Wike experience in 2023, there are indications that the former VP has empowered the party leadership to drive the final decision on the vice-presidential slot.

Currently, the former Minister of Transport seems to be leading those itching to be Atiku’s running mate.
