Fubara’s Men clear Rivers LG Polls

Governor Sim Fubara has indeed proved to be in charge of the Oil rich South – South State as the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSEIC, has declared the Action People’s Party (APP) as the winners of 22 chairmanship positions so far announced out of 23 in the just-concluded local government election in Rivers State.

The RSIEC Chairman, Adolphus Enebeli who declared the results this Saturday in Port Harcourt, however, suspended the declaration of results for Etche Local Government Area (LGA) as collation was ongoing.

According to him, announcement for the 319 councillorship seats will be made alongside that of the Etche Chairmanship position when collations are concluded.

Enebeli while describing the election as free, fair, and credible, despite all odds and lauded the large turnout of voters.

The RSIEC Boss revealed that the commission “adopted the principle of bi-location because of the exigencies” they found themselves.

The declaration of the results was observed by members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), chairmen of the state’s independent electoral bodies across the country, and members of the Nigerian Bar Association who acted as observers in the polls.

Recall, ahead of the exercise, police authorities had said they would not provide security for the election, citing a court order which also barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from presenting the voter register to RSIEC.

With the situation, Fubara has overcome the antics of FCT Minister and his supporters who have been trying to frustrate stop the polls from holding.
