History was made in the intra-departmental soccer competition in Abia State University Uturu as the first year students of the law students of the highly reputable institution thrashed their final year set 2 – 0 to emerge champions of the League of the potential Lawyers, emerging the first year one team to win the league cup.
The first year squad led by a raw talent waiting to be harnessed, Chidiebube Okoli (Bube) before getting to the finals which was concluded Wednesday evening at the Law campus pitch had beaten second year students 1 – 0 and their third year colleagues 2 – 1 with all the five goals of the first year students coming from the talented striker popularly known as Bube.
According to reports, third year students came third in the tournament that saw the highly talented Chidiebube emerging highest goal scorer and best player of the tournament.
The champions’ team also produced the best goalkeeper and best coach of the tournament.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News , Chidiebube whose female footballer Idol is Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala thanked the faculty for organizing the competition and expressed confidence that future talents could be harnessed from such a sporting fiesta.
