Teachers and Students in various secondary schools in Enugu State are beginning to appreciate the efforts of an Ex International Boxer and Coordinator Grassroots Boxing Talent hunt in the State, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo in developing youths through sports.
Speaking with Hanto Daily News at venues for the talent hunt, the Games Mistress, Iva valley secondary school, Dr Mrs Ngozi Odo described the exercise as very encouraging and expressed confidence that the Policy will bring about a secured future for youths.
She also commended Governor Peter Mba and the speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche C. Ugwu for the sponsorship of the exercise and assured the continued cooperation of school authorities to the programme.
Baring his mind at Okpatu secondary school in Udi Local Government Area, one of the discovered talents, Ndubuisi Aka thanked the Coordinator and the sponsors for the programme and expressed eagerness to excel in boxing.
The Grass root Boxing talent hunt exercise Conducted by Team Mazi Ikechukwu okoronkwo had recently visited okpatu community secondary school in Udi LGA, CSS Mbu in Isiuzo LGA and Community Secondary School center Iva Valley in Enugu North Local Government area where 51 students were selected for and training of students to pick those that will represent Enugu North LGA at 8th Edition of Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grassroots Boxing talent hunt exercise.
According to the Ex- International Boxer, those finally selected after the training exercise will represent their Local Government Areas at the grand finale of 2024 Edition.Rt Hon Uche C Ugwu Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Boxing Competition scheduled to hold in Enugu by December 2024.
