In what seems to be a landmark judgement that will discourage young Ladies from fraudulently and deliberately failing to honour appointments with their male acquaintances, a Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered one Miss Rhoda Adu to pay N150,000 to her boyfriend, identified as Olapitan Sola for reportedly collecting a sum of N3,000 as transport fare but failed to honour the agreement.
According to reports, the Lady, Rhoda, switched off her phone and failed to show up for an agreed appointment after the Man, Sola transferred the transport fare to the accused lady.
The Man who felt defrauded by the accused reported the matter to Ayeso Police Station, leading to the arrest of Rhoda and her subsequent arrraignment in court.
Hanto Daily News Correspondent who monitored the case said, during the trial, Mr. Sola presented evidence, including the mobile money transfer and WhatsApp messages exchanged between him and Rhoda.
Delivering her judgement,, Magistrate Akogun Oludare, on Friday, ordered Rhoda to refund the N3,000, pay an additional N100,000 for breach of agreement, and another N50,000 as special damages for emotional distress.
The court made it clear that the verdict was intended to deter others from similar behaviour.
