The Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the ongoing multi-million naira piggery project located at Ugwuodu Area, Umuehihie Amuda, Isuochi.
Speaking during the project inspection on Wednesday (10/6/26), Mayor Afurobi noted with delight that the project is progressing according to schedule, assuring that it will be completed within record time.

According to the Mayor, the piggery project is aimed at providing an alternative source of animal protein, creating employment opportunities for the people of Umunneochi, adding that it would serve as a training centre for individuals interested in modern pig farming and management.
The Mayor further explained that the project will stimulate commercial activities within the local government and contribute significantly to food security and economic development in the area.
Mayor Afurobi also revealed that work on other components of the project including: a feed mill, administrative block, staff quarters, cassava farm, among others, will commence soon, while the drilling rig for the borehole project is already on site.
The Umunneochi Council Boss reiterated that his administration remains committed to delivering meaningful dividends of democracy to the people, stressing that improving the welfare of residents is a major objective of his mandate as Executive Chairman of the local government.
He extolled the Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, for setting a good standard in the state which he is replicating in the local government, and assured to remain supportive to his quality governance.
The Councillor representing Amuda Ward, Hon. David Mba, and the immediate past Assistant Secretary, Labour Party, Abia State, Comrade Ibebuike Obialor, accompanied the Mayor during the inspection visit.
