The Executive Chairman/ Mayor Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Sunny Afurobi, has announced measures and strategies aimed at bringing development to the various communities in the Council Area.
Speaking during a meeting with the Presidents General of the three Clans, comprising , Umuchieze, Nneato and Isuochi, Chief Afurobi restated his preparedness to work in collaboration with Town Unions in Umunneochi, towards the provision of Democracy dividends.
The Mayor pointed out that his administration has restored electricity in some parts of the Local Government and assured that all parts of Umunneochi without electricity will soon receive due attention.
He also made public that the Council has started the enumeration of non-functional and vandalized Transformers in various communities and called on both the Traditional Rulers and Town Union Executives to always prevail on their people to protect every public facilities in their localities.
Chief Afurobi, used the forum to announce plans to introduce Secondary School Games, that will feature track and field events, explaining that the primary aim is to catch them young.
He further revealed plans to train about thirty Umunneochi Youths on Artificial Intelligence,(AI), adding that arrangements are on ground to introduce Medical Outreaches in all the wards and standardization of one Health Centre in each ward for efficient health delivery.
The Mayor, applauded Governor Alex Otti for the eradication of kidnapping and other criminalities which led to the demolition of their den at the Umuchieze cattle market and the comprehensive fencing of its premises.
Chief Afurobi appreciated the efforts of various autonomous communities and their vigilance groups in crime prevention and advocated for its sustainability for a more conducive environment
In their reactions, the President General, Umuchieze Development Union, Architect Chief Victor Peters Ogbukwe, JP, the President General, Nneato Development Union, Chief Okafor, and the National President Isuochi Community Development Association, Engr. Chief Ochi Orji, commended the Mayor for the quality leadership so far and pledged their support and encouragement to his lofty dreams for a better Umunneochi.
The highly elated Presidents General, promised to take all the strategies and action plans discussed, especially the ones that bother Security, Electricity, Agriculture, and employment back to their communities for larger stakeholders engagements and inputs.
