The recently introduced intensified efforts to rid Abia of violent crimes and criminal elements, by the Abia Police Command code named “Operation No Hideout for Criminal Elements in the State,” has led to dismantling of two criminal hideouts in Umunneochi LGA
According to a release endorsed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Maureen Chinaka says the effort which is at the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, saw the dismantling of the two camps located at Nneato and Isuochi communities of the council area.
The release states that, “Leveraging actionable intelligence, Yesterday, 26/09/2026, operatives of the Command comprising the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Anti-Cultism Unit, Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the Isuochi Divisional Police Station were deployed to suspected criminal camps located in the forests at Umuaku, Isuochi, for bush-combing operations, as well as another camp at Nneato, Isuochi.
It further pointed out that “upon arrival of the Command’s tactical operatives at the camps, the suspects fled. The criminal camps were subsequently dismantled. A total of twenty-eight (28) human skulls and bones, suspected to be kidnap victims, were recovered. Investigation is ongoing, while monitoring of the area continues, and efforts are intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The release restates the determination of the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, to ensure that Abia remains a no-hiding place for criminals and their activities and encouraged Abians, as partners in crime prevention, to collaborate with the Police by reporting any security concerns to the nearest Police Station.
