In what appears to be a response to those criticizing his unusual quietness regarding the state of affairs in the country, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has challenged the Federal Government to give Nigeria’s security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to deal a decisive blow on terrorists across the country or resign.
Pastor Adeboye in a video shared on 𝕏 on Tuesday, expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the country and made it clear that the current security chiefs should be held accountable for producing results in the fight against terrorism.
He sounded it loud and clear that decisive action was needed to end terrorist attacks and kidnappings and called on the government to go beyond targeting terrorists and ensure that their financiers and supporters are exposed and dealt with.
“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign.
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he noted.
Recalling that he once advised a former Nigerian president to issue a similar ultimatum to security chiefs, Pastor Adeboye observed with regrets that although the directive was issued at the time, it was not fully enforced by the time the deadline elapsed.
