Rivers women have ended their monthly prayer meeting that featured prayers, spiritual exhortation, business enlightenment and encouragement, with speakers tasking women to embrace opportunities and excel in their various endeavors.
The spiritual session was led by Dr. Mrs. Queen Karibi-Botoye in the meeting organsed by Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) in collaboration with its parent body, Rivers Women Unite Organisation (RWUOG), that provided the women another platform to strengthen their faith, share experiences and empower one another.
In her speech, Dr. Mrs. Nancy Nwankwo advised women against selling their votes, saying temporary gifts offered during elections could not be compared with the long-term consequences of political decisions on citizens and their communities. She tasked the women to guard their PVC.
On her part, Honourable Dr. Mrs. Tekena Wokoma, a seasoned politician, entrepreneur and widely travelled businesswoman, noted that from her experience with business, loan facilities and repayment encouraged the women to embrace opportunities with integrity, honesty, discipline and a purposeful attitude.
She emphasised the importance of responsible management of financial facilities, stressing that women must use business opportunities wisely, honour their financial obligations and build credibility through integrity.
Dr. Wokoma challenged the women to become more active in politics and public affairs, urging them to participate confidently without any sense of inferiority to men.
She further told the women to move beyond being supporters and campaigners to become aspirants, candidates, decision makers and leaders.
Contributing, a member of the RWUOG, Dr Margaret Ayara, said the group had continued to equip women with practical skills to enable them to support their families and contribute to community development.
She noted that skills acquisition and economic empowerment were important complements to spiritual encouragement, as they could enhance women’s confidence and capacity to become financially independent.
For RWUS and RWUOG, the September prayer meeting was another demonstration that faith, knowledge, integrity and courage can equip women to embrace opportunities, excel in business and take their rightful place in leadership and society.
