Development Authority Seals-Off Building In Umunneochi

‎The Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) on Friday (24/7/24) sealed-off a building under construction in Mbala Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area for violating established building regulations.

According to the enforcement exercise team led by the Director General of the Greater Ohafia Development Authority, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, named the offences to include: failure to obtain the required development approval, inadequate setback, and other breaches of physical planning standards.

The GODA further explained that the action followed the developer’s failure to comply with repeated government directives to regularize the development and adhere to the approved building requirements

‎ Speaking during the exercise the Director General OGDA, Engr. Obinna Odum, made it clear that no individual or organization is above the law and warned that any developer who embarks on construction without obtaining the necessary government approvals and other planning regulations will face appropriate sanctions.

Engr. Odum who condemned the unauthorized construction, pointed out that the administration of Dr. Alex Otti, remains committed to enforcing physical planning laws to ensure orderly urban development, public safety, and environmental sustainability.

‎He noted that building regulations are designed to protect lives and property, prevent environmental hazards, and promote a well-planned and aesthetically pleasing environment.

The GM, therefore, charged property developers and residents to obtain all necessary approvals from the relevant authorities before commencing any construction project.
