All is now set for the commencement of the Nigerian Immigration Lawyers Association (NILA) 2026 Immigration Law and Practice Webinar Series with a landmark virtual session focused on contemporary developments in Nigeria’s immigration framework.

Nigerian Immigration Lawyers Association (NILA) says the first webinar, scheduled for Saturday, 1 August 2026, will address the theme: “Visa Policy Reforms and Entry Governance in Nigeria (2025–2026).”
It states that time is 11AM to 1PM while venue is Microsoft Teams.
According to the release, the programme is designed to provide immigration professionals, legal practitioners, corporate stakeholders, academics, students and other interested participants with informed perspectives on recent reforms, emerging trends and the evolving landscape of immigration administration in Nigeria.
It further states that the keynote presentation will be delivered by a seasoned migration management professional with nearly two decades of experience in immigration administration, border governance, strategic communication and stakeholder engagement and Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Akinsola Akinlabi, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Service Headquarters, Abuja.
The release notes that DCI Akinlabi in his capacity as the principal spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service, plays a key role in communicating national immigration policies, reforms and institutional developments.
According to the statement, the session will be moderated by Dr. Eno-Obong Bassey Akpan, a lawyer,Notary Public for Nigeria, human rights advocate, researcher and academic.
Dr. Akpan, who holds a Ph.D in Law with specialisation in women’s human rights, has extensive experience in legal practice, advocacy, leadership and academic research and is currently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Obong University brings a wealth of professional and intellectual experience to the conversation.
The release discloses that participation is free and urges interested participants to register through the official registration platform.
As the NILA EXCO puts it, “the webinar forms part of NILA’s broader programme of professional development and stakeholder engagement initiatives aimed at advancing knowledge, promoting excellence in immigration law practice and strengthening dialogue among government institutions, legal practitioners and other actors within Nigeria’s migration ecosystem.”
