The stage is finally set now for what could be a defining moment for the 2027 Governorship election in Rivers State as the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been successfully screened by the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the May 21 governorship primary election.
Fubara who was cleared on Saturday by the APC screening committee sitting at the Plateau Governors Lodge, Abuja was among the 17 serving governors whose credentials were verified and assessed by the committee.
The development, according to analysts will see others including the Pro-Nyesom Wike aspirants squaring up against Governor Fubara in what could be described as a tough and historic contest.
Recall, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, had vowed to cripple Fubara’s re-election bid.
Earlier on Saturday, Kingsley Chinda, a loyalist of Wike, was also screened and cleared to contest against Fubara in the forthcoming election.
