Courts Under Lock and Key as Abia JUSUN Begins Industrial Action

The Abia State branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN on Monday began an indefinite industrial action to press home their demand for the payment of their leave allowances.

A release endorsed by the State Secretary of JUSUN, Pastor Chibueze Nwachukwu, therefore, directed members to remain at home and stay away from all court and office premises until further directives from the Union.

While claiming that credible information at their disposal indicated that some miscreants and touts are planning to hijack the situation in order to attack our members, cause mayhem, destroy property, and falsely attribute such acts to Judiciary staff, the Union warned members against going to the office or court premises.

According to the release, the Union has constituted a Task Force Team which will be fully active to monitor compliance with this directive.

Though the State government is yet to react to the development, there are indications that the issues would be resolved soon.

The Statement::

TO ALL MEMBERS!!

I am directed to inform all members that there is NO WORK today. The strike action continues this morning until our Leave Allowance is paid.
Accordingly, all members are directed to remain at home and stay away from all court and office premises until further directives from the Union.

We have received credible information that some miscreants and touts are planning to hijack the situation in order to attack our members, cause mayhem, destroy property, and falsely attribute such acts to Judiciary staff. In view of this, no member should be seen anywhere around the office or court premises.
Members are therefore strongly advised to comply fully with this directive and remain at home for their own safety.
The Union has constituted a Task Force Team which will be fully active to monitor compliance with this directive.

Furthermore, no member should present himself or herself to any person, consultant, or group under the guise of “verification” or any related exercise. Anyone who does so will be acting at his or her own risk and detriment, and the Union will not be held responsible.

Members are urged to remain calm, united, and law-abiding as we continue to pursue our legitimate demands.

In solidarity.
