You must address the hardship in Nigeria to succeed in 2027- University Don tells Tinubu

A Professor of Banking and Finance, Professor Sebastian Uremadu says that the rising opposition among some popular Northern politicians against the re-election of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could be traced to the extreme hunger and economic hardship in their region

Prof Uremadu who is a Lecturer at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State in an interaction with Newsmen advised the President to make sweeping economic changes to win the heart of Nigerians before the 2027 Presidential poll.

He made it clear that only tackling the high telecom charges, outrageous electricity bills, bank charges, high interest rates, rising food prices, insecurity and complaints of Northerners are addressed by President Tinubu could save more Nigerians from dying of hardship and hunger.

While reiterating the call for restoration of petroleum subsidy, University Don is of the opinion that addressing the concerns of the Northerners and accommodating the South East better in his administration would make the 2027 race smoother for him than 2023.

” Tinubu will win the heart of the people and record landslide victory straight away if he addresses economic hardship, hunger, multiple taxation, fuel subsidy removal, complaints of Northerners, accommodate the South East and also arrest insecurity in the land.”

He thanked elder statesman, Tanko Yakassai for his insistence that one region can not decide who becomes the President of the country, describing Yakassai as a father of national unity.

Speaking on the reported meeting between suspended Governor of Rivers State, Simi Fubara and his Godfather, Nyesom Wike, Professor Uremadu described the meeting as a good step, saying that Governor Fubara should be allowed to return to his seat even as he advised Fubara to retain his respect for the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Wike.
