You are forcing our members to defect to your party – PDP accuses APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is employing dirty tricks and undemocratic means in swelling their membership in its efforts to decimate the opposition.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba who made the accusation while reacting to a claim by a former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, that two PDP Governors will in the next few days decamp to the ruling party said the APC is coercing opposition politicians into defection.

Ologunagba alleged that many of the defections are not voluntary, but based on harassment, inducement, coercion and intimidation.

He however told the ruling party that such forced defections won’t last.

According to him, the PDP is bigger than individual members, and as some people are leaving, others are also joining the party.

“A party is not about individuals but all the people. We have more and more diverse people working for the PDP today.

“More and more people are returning to the PDP because it’s getting itself together.

“The defections you see today are instigated by inducement, harassment, coercion, intimidation, and it won’t last,” the party spokesperson insisted.

Recall, Ahmad had in a post via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, October 7 asserted that the Governor of Taraba State and another governor from the North West will, “in just a matter of days,” formally defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
