Water must flow initiative to commence soon in Umunneochi LGA – Mayor Afurobi

The Mayor, Umunneochi Local Governments Area, Chief Sunny Afurobi says his administration has set everything in motion to ensure the commencement of the water must flow initiative his administration.

Chief Afurobi who announced this while receiving the Executive and ward officers of Umunneochi Women for Alex Otti and Sunny Afurobi, assured that very soon every ward in Umunneochi will get a borehole project to address the water needs of rural dwellers.

The Mayor who assured that his administration is for the benefit of all, further made public that farming on the over 25 hectares of lands acquired in Ngodo and Nneato blocs for the Cassava revolution projects will commence this year’s planting season.

He described the move as part of his administration’s resolve to boost food production and guaranteeing food safety for all in the nearest future.

The Mayor appreciated the Executive and ward officers of Umunneochi Women for Alex Otti and Sunny Afurobi, for their show of solidarity to the government of Governor Alex Otti in Abia state, and his administration at the local government, assuring that they will continue making the people proud through effective and result oriented leadership.

Chief Afurobi noted that the critical roles played by women in electing credible leaders during elections could not be over emphasized and charged them to continue mobilising more members and work assiduously to support Governor Otti, and his team.

He used the forum to request all to join hands to build a better future for Ndi Umunneochi, assuring that better opportunities are coming for the people of Umunneochi to rejoice and be glad in it.

The Mayor encouraged the women group to remain focused and resolute in their support for the Governor and charged the women to mobilise their wards that have turned eighteen years and above without their voter cards to visit the INEC office and do the needful to ensure the reelection of Governor Alex Otti.

He promised to provide logistics support for them to enable them carry out their monthly meetings, while appreciating the LGA Coordinator, Mrs Salome Onwu, for her painstaking efforts in mobilising support for the Governor in the council.

Speaking earlier, the Leader Umunneochi Women for Governor Otti and Sunny Afurobi, Mrs Salome Onwu, who said that they came to show solidarity to the government of Governor Alex Chioma Otti and Mayor, Chief Sunny Afurobi, for their good works, pledged their support to them.

Mrs Onwu noted that the aim of forming the pro-group is to add their voice in the reelection bid of the Governor, assuring that they are mobilising more members to join hands in their avowed commitment of supporting the state and local governments.

In a vote of thanks, the Secretary Umunneochi Women for Governor Alex Otti and Mayor Sunny Afurobi, Mrs Getrude Ike, thanked the Mayor, Chief Afurobi, for his show of love and hospitality as they visited, and prayed God to always enlarge his coast for more exploits.
