An Owerri High Court e presided over by Hon Justice Eke has adjourned the matter brought before it by Umuocha Avu Community against Vertex Estate Nigeria Limited, Engineer Christian M Onyekachi and Imo State government to June 2,2026 for further hearing.
This followed a plea by Barr Okoli from the Ministry of Justice who entered appearance for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants in the matter.
The counsel to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants pleaded for time to study the case file for him to respond appropriately, arguing that it was his first time of making an appearance for his clients in the court.
The hearing on Tuesday is a sequel to the court order for Substituted service and hearing of motion on Vertex Estate Nigeria Limited and Engineer Christian M Onyekachi in the case of Umuocha Avu and Imo State government and its agents.
The Court bitterly observed that despite the publication in the LEAD Newspaper, the 4th and 5th Defendants Vertex Estate Nigeria Limited and Engineer Christian M Onyekachi failed to appear in court and were not represented.
However, the plaintiffs were all in the court and fully represented by their counsel Barrister Chukwuma -Machukwu Ume SAN and his team of lawyers.
