In a rare show of solidarity and love for the Dr Alex Otti led administration, the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia has donated two brand-new electric street sweeper and scraper vehicles to the Abia State Government.

Presenting the vehicles to Government Officials, the Bishop Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, the Most Rev Dr Michael Kalu Ukpong, explained that the gesture is part of the Diocese’s contribution to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment, especially in Umuahia.

The Catholic Bishop noted that the Diocese found it necessary to support government initiatives in environmental sanitation and described the donation as the Church’s modest but sincere contribution towards sustaining a clean Abia State.
While stressing that it also underscores the strong, cordial, and symbiotic relationship between the Church and the State Government, Most Rev. Ukpong, applauded the Abia State Government for its consistent commitment to environmental cleanliness.
He further applauded Governor Otti and the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) for their efforts in making Abia a more habitable and healthy place.

Responding, the Deputy General Manager of ASEPA , Catechist Ambrose Jonah, thanked the Bishop and the Diocese for the gesture he described as timely and exemplary, assuring that the vehicles would be put to effective and proper use for the benefit of the state.
