Ten Arrested Over the Killing Benue MACBAN Chairman

A few days after the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, in Benue State, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and one Yakubu Isa, the Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the crime.

The Command, in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet, named the suspects arrested to include Titus Thyodenda (25), Utibe Sam (20), Owoicho Ameh (18), Sunday Useni (21), Sunday Ogbanje (46), Daniel Raphael (23), Adokole John (24), Samuel Ogazi (32), Agbo Daniel (25) and Onazi James (30).

According to the Command, the arrests followed intensive intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations carried out by police operatives in Otukpo on the night of Saturday, June 27, 2026.

It pointed out that the arrests marked a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the gruesome killings.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism, describing the arrests as a major step towards ensuring justice.

The police commissioner vowed to intensify efforts towards identifying and apprehending other persons linked to the killings.

CP Nwadiogbu, however, appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, continue to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information that could assist the investigation.
