Security: Tinubu takes bold steps, appoints new service Chiefs

Nigeria’s President and Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs of the country.

President Tinubu in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Mr Sunday Dare, released this Friday (24/10/25) in in Abuja named General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff to replace General Christopher Musa.

According to the release, the new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu, while Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke is Chief of Air Staff whereas Rear Admiral I. Abbas is now the Chief of Naval Staff.

The release further stated that Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye still retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

It pointed out that appointments which take immediate effect are in furtherance of the efforts of the Tinubu administration to strengthen the national security architecture.

The President who expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the other Service Chiefs for their patriotic service, and dedicated leadership, charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them.
