Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his professionalism, integrity and dedication to duty during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, describing his elevation to the nation’s top police position as a reward for meritorious service.
Sir Fubara made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the IGP at Government House, Port Harcourt, where he expressed delight at welcoming back a police chief who, according to him, remained committed to his constitutional responsibilities despite the intense political crisis that characterised his time in the state.
The governor described Disu’s return as a homecoming, noting that his conduct during a challenging period had earned him respect and lasting recognition in Rivers State.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the police and other security agencies in maintaining peace and security, while wishing the IGP success as he leads the force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
