In recognition of its sustained commitment to environmental sustainability, community development, advocacy and humanitarian service, The Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has been appointed Ambassador for Environment of the Rotary Club of Umuahia for the 2026–2027 Rotary Year.
Presenting the certificate of appointment and insignia on Saturday, August 8, 2026, during the installation ceremony of the 46th President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia, the President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia, Rtn. Ijeoma Okwy-Irokanulo, siad the honour reflects OACF’s contributions to environmental sustainability through initiatives focused on tree planting, waste management, climate action, conservation.
According to him, the gesture marks a new phase of collaboration between OACF and the Rotary Club of Umuahia in advancing environmental protection and sustainable community development.
Receiving the honour on behalf of the Foundation, the OACF Programme Manager, Helen Mannic; accompanied by Research Associate, Chinasa Onwuka; and Bende Local Government Area Manager, Mr. Godswill Evans thanked the Rotary Club of Umuahia for the recognition and described the appointment as an honour and a call to greater service.
Mannic noted that the appointment aligns with OACF’s vision, “Building Today for a Better Tomorrow,” stressing that environmental sustainability remains critical to creating healthier, safer and more resilient communities for present and future generations.
She further reaffirmed the determination of the Foundation to work closely with the Rotary Club of Umuahia in promoting environmental protection and sustainability initiatives across Abia State.
According to her, “The partnership is expected to strengthen collaborative efforts in areas including community sanitation, tree planting, responsible waste management, climate awareness, conservation and environmental education.”
