Rivers Assembly asks CJ to constitute panel to investigate Fubara, Deputy

The political drama in Rivers State continues this Friday as four members of Rivers State House of Assembly who had earlier in the week pulled out of the impeachment process recanted and rejoined their colleagues who have now called on the Chief Judge of the state to set up panel to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

Hanto Daily News reports that the Assembly members, made the call through a unanimous vote and vowed to continue with the impeachment process.

Addressing journalists earlier, the Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol, said Fubara lacked the trust needed to address the crisis rocking the State.

The Lawmakers also claimed the governor and his deputy had resorted to intimidating the parliament.

While thanking President Bola Tinubu for wading into the crisis, they called on the Speaker to continue with the impeachment proceedings.

Four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly: the Minority Leader, Sylvanus Nwankwo, representing Omuma constituency, Peter Abbey of Degema Constituency, the Deputy Minority Leader, who represents Khana Constituency I, Barile Nwakoh, and Emilia Lucky-Amadi, representing Obio/Akpor constituency II had a few days ago, urged their colleagues to withdraw the impeachment proceedings.

However, their U-turn again this Friday which they blamed on the intolerant attitude of the Governor and his Deputy has kept analysts guessing.
